The Thorn is sharp to all, We are quite impressed by our new logo design. A perspective drawing of three Thurisaz runes bonded at their base and spinning violently. After struggling to come up w/ a logo design my sister suggested that we use the rune Thurisaz. The meaning of the rune matched the design philosophy of our spinner exactly, it was inevitable. Once unleashed, the artistic talent of team member Lance Vermillion brought the vision to life! Runes are powerful magikal symbols. In medieval times Norse warriors would etch the symbols on their weapons to impart the powers of the gods hoping to gain greater strength and protection in battle. |

Thurisaz (pronounced Thoo-RE-saz) is the rune of active protection. It's name is translated to mean Thorn or Giant. It symbolizes survival adaptations, our ability to deal with the threats and challenges that come to us. Just as the rose bush grows thorns, and the panther grows claws, Thurisaz gives us the power to stand up and fight, and protect ourselves from the whims of nature or those who actively work against us. Thorn is the rune of the surivivor of battles and a potent tool in war magick. In its mode of "Giant" Thurisaz is the rune of the Norse god Tor (or Thor). Thurisaz is seen as Tor's hammer and acquires the fiery vengeful temper of that god. Tripling a rune strengthens its powers enormously. By adding several runes together, you create what is known as a "bondrune." This is a complicated system of runic mathematics and magick, and by this reconning, the 3-Thurizaz bondrune used as the logo is equal to the rune Hagal, meaning "hail" and representing the destructive forces of nature, such as the whirlwind - extremely appropriate for our spinning weapon.
